Omaha Beach was the hardest beach to take out of the five beaches. First the Americans bombarded the beach and the enemy positions with a great ammount of naval fire. Then the Americans attacked using landing craft known as Higgins Boats to land on the beaches with waves of infantry. The landings were seperated into six sectors known as Dog Green, Dog White, Dog Red, Easy Green, Easy Red, and Fox Green. Of all nine companies that landed, only two landed where they were supposed to. At 6:30 AM the first wave hits the beaches and the invasion is underway and it lasted all the way through 1:00 PM. The beach was riddled with tank stoppers and many other obstacles to halt the Allies advance. This was the deadliest beach out of one of the deadliest invasion in human history. Here is a video about what Omaha Beach was like on the actual day.

Utah Beach

Utah beach wasn't as horrific as Omaha Beach was, however it was still bad. The Americans didn't lose even close to as many as they lost on Omaha Beach. There were many factors that helped us take the beach as fast as we did. We had an Airborne invasion behind their lines starting at 1:30 AM and then a naval bombardment of the beach, then we sent the waves of infantry at 6:30 AM. This invasion was less harsh for the people on the beach, but more harsh for the men landing behind enemy lines with the Airborne.

Casualties

Allied casualties (beach landing): ~900

Axis Casualties: Unknown
